We're often asked if Cheqbook supports foreign currencies and bank accounts, and honestly all our features are only supported inside the United States or Canada. For example at this time we cannot connect to banks outside this official service area.
However, we have a surprisingly large number of users outside the United States that are making it work for them. Mostly through uploading transactions as we have currenty have no or very limited access to foreign bank data. Here's some guidance on uploading: https://help.cheqbook.com/hc/en-us/articles/223330967-How-to-upload-transactions
Cheqbook does have a few features that can help if you're interested in trying the software:
- The currency symbols CAN be changed, just to go company settings and change the Default Currency option to your country.
- DON'T mix two different currencies in one company (like both U.S. and Canadian denominated accounts). This just makes a mess.
- We also don't officially support VAT taxes (the most common type of tax around the world) but you can make them work by following this guidance here: https://help.cheqbook.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001056493-Managing-VAT-or-Value-Added-Taxes-in-Cheqbook
So, while we cannot officially endorse this, apparently it does work for some users in countries around the world. Especially English speaking nations or those with similar financial reporting as the United States.
You're welcome to try it free for 30 days and see if it works for you.
*Note regarding foreign legal requirements: Cheqbook may not be in compliance with the laws in various countries around the world outside the U.S. and Canada. This includes compliance with European Privacy requirements. Please note we are too small at this time and do not have the resources to meet the entire world's rules and regulations as larger organizations with more resources organizations would. This involves both knowledge of as well as the technical and policy changes that could be necessary. However, if you need something from us that that your local country requires, like full erasure of your data, let us know with a support ticket and we WILL comply with those rules.

Good evening,
:( well, then, sadly the solution is not usable for me. I am not worried about reconciling with the banks, but writing an invoice in GBP is crucial for me.
Best wishes,
Helmuts
I will ask for a refund. But, anyway, all the best! Looks really cool.

Helmut and more importantly others that are finding this thread, our invoices now go out in the currency selected for your company.
Is supporting multiple currencies on the roadmap? I'd love to switch from Wave, but I need the multiple currencies which they do.
